There are some VERY exciting announcements on the horizon in Earlandia, but the first happy little tidbit is that I am playing Seattle's biggest arts festival, Bumbershoot, this year! The line-up was officially announced today and the headliners include Hall and Oates(!), Ray Lamontagne, Broken Social Scene, PUSA and many more. It's going to be a doozy. I'm thrilled to be included!

I AM NERD APPROVED! Yesssss. My song "At the Start" is the NPR Song of the Day today with a very nice little write-up by the lovely Barbara Mitchell. This jam is a duet with Burn The Boats producer, and Long Winters frontman, John Roderick. It also features the delightful and talented Michael Lerner of Telekinesis on drums!

It's been an exciting week for "Under Evergreen", one of the fave jams on my record. This one is close to my heart as it's the song I wrote when I was trying to work up the courage to quit my corporate gig in order to do music full time (which is what happened in the end!). Big thanks to all who participated in the show STAG and I put together in Austin yesterday. The bands all killed it (The Young Evils, Kasey Anderson and the Honkies, New Roman Times, Brite Futures, Cobirds Unite and James Apollo) and the sun shone on us all day long. Aside from a guitar amp going up in smoke mid-set, the day was seamless! Can't wait to do it again next year!

A Guide to Seattle bands playing SXSW - Another Rainy Saturday.
I had the pleasure of opening for the one and only Loudon Wainwright (yes, he's the papa of Rufus and Martha!) at the beautiful Triple Door in Seattle on January 23rd. Mike and Anna-Lisa (of Hannalee) and I had a spectacular time playing for the sold-out crowd and then sitting back to enjoy Loudon's brilliant set. He is truly a master! I learned a lot from him. Thanks all for a great night!
